At the beginning of the school year in kindergarten, I focused a unit on safety. After reading a book, we talked about stop signs around the community and what they mean. Students learned a poem to remind themselves of the safety feature, and made their own stop signs to take home and practice.

I created the following lesson as part of a group LES on interpersonal relationships in groups. Students learn about being part of a community, the effects of bullying, and what they can do when they see bullying, both in real life and online.

This learning evaluation situation was developed as part of a team in order to get students to answer the question, do we need zoos? With a cross-curricular connection to English, students will read The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate to understand the true story of a gorilla held in captivity.

This learning evaluation situation was developed as part of a team using DotPlan. It allows students to read The Berenstain Bears book series by Jan & Stan Berenstain, and to learn life lessons from them. All of the lesson activities involve students engagement with technology.

This lesson incorporates literature in order for students to realize that everyone has differences but that is okay. Students follow the friendship of a fox and a squirrel and realize that they can be friends despite their differences and that the differences make the friendship stronger in the end.
