All About Miss AlexDespite living in Montreal from August 2011 until April 2016, I was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario with my parents Jonathan and Chrysta, and my twin brother Declan. From grade 2 I have always wanted to be an elementary school teacher, gaining inspiration from my own kindergarten teacher who I worked closely and helped out a lot throughout my time in elementary school.
I hold dual citizenship as both a Canadian and British Citizen. I have previously travelled across Canada, throughout Europe and to Oceania. My goal is to make it to every continent. Due to my experience and love for travel, I have always been passionate about and determined to teach abroad as I love learning about and experiencing different cultures. In the winter 2015 semester of my degree, I completed a semester-long exchange at the University of Melbourne in Australia. It was the best experience of my life, and solidified my desire to teach and live abroad. Since moving to Melbourne, Australia in September 2016, my goal has become to gain my own elementary/primary school classroom. Other than travelling, my interests lie in spending time with family and friends, baking, attending music festivals and concerts, astrophysics and spending time outdoors. Incorporating interests into the classroom is a very useful and important aspect of teaching in order to help foster life-long learners. In my future classroom, I will make a special effort to learn about the interests of my students in order to incorporate them into the classroom. I will also share my own experiences and hobbies. ![]()
