This lesson asks students to view Crosswind (1952) by Jean Paul Riopelle and share their interpretations of the painting. Inspired by my own interpretation of the painting, students then view various forms and examples of map art, and create their own map using eyedroppers and water colours.

This unit plan was developed as part of a team in order for cycle 1 students to discover what lives under the sea. Students engage with a variety of materials to learn about fish, crustaceans and deep sea creatures. The unit concludes with a class made mural about what they know lives under the sea. I also created a handout with instructions for how to make the baking soda dough used in lesson number three.
